The recent elections in South Africa has seen the African National Congress (ANC) lose majority for the first time in 30 years.
The ANC had won every previous national election since the historic 1994 vote led by the late Nelson Mandela, that ended white minority rule.
Over the last decade South Africans have watched the economy stagnate, unemployment and poverty climb and infrastructure crumble, leading to regular power outages.
