David Soul, born on August 28, 1943, in Chicago, is an American actor and singer. Best known for his role as Detective Ken “Hutch” Hutchinson in the 1970s hit TV series “Starsky & Hutch,” Soul began his career in music with the chart-topping single “Don’t Give Up on Us” in 1977. Beyond acting, he studied political science at Augustana College. In addition to his iconic TV role, Soul has worked in various films such as “Magnum Force” (1973) and “Salem’s Lot” (1979). Active in both the US and the UK, he ventured into theater. Outside of his artistic pursuits, Soul has been recognized for his activism and involvement in humanitarian and environmental causes.
